Tips #1, 2 & 3

Tip #1 - Free ice! When we first left San Diego we spend 2.99 on ice we needed for the cooler. Since we were determined to get our moneys worth at the hotel in Vegas, we got lots of ice when we got there to fill the cooler and we also got some before we left. We were able to use the bags we bought the ice in form San Diego and filled them up at the hotel. We had thought about buying ice at the gas station, but this saved us some cash and we were being resourceful! Goal for the rest of the trip – never pay for ice!

Tip #2 – Free & fun night in Vegas – see our post about our night in Vegas for more details, but basically you can have a fun and free night in Vegas by just walking or biking the strip with your fanny packs full of snacks and keystone lights while making new friends and dancing the night away with strangers!

Tip #3 – Cheapest breakfast on the road… a large bag of quick oats from Henry's. Wondering how we were going to make the oatmeal this morning without a microwave, we called Room Service to see if they could just bring us some hot water and cups. Surprisingly they said they would have to charge us $5 for a pot of hot water and some frivolous change for the cups. Since we're on a budget we politely declined and tried our luck with Starbucks in the lobby. Luckily they gave two large cups full of hot water – for FREE! We were very happy campers to say the least. We mixed together the oats, hot water, some of Christina’s homemade applesauce and strawberries and made a delicious, filling, healthy and extremely cheap breakfast.
